Hi there! I’m Nabarun Pal (he/him) a passionate software enthusiast with a keen interest in tinkering with both software and hobbyist hardware.

Currently, I work as a Staff Software Engineer at VMware, where I lead a few functions of the multi-tenant control plane powering VMware Tanzu SaaS products. My primary focus is to ensure safeguard API quality, scale out the control plane, and own any area related to open source projects that are used, such as KCP.

I’m honored to be an elected member of the Kubernetes Steering Committee and serve as the Chair of the Kubernetes Special Interest Group Contributor Experience. Over the past years, I have actively participated in the Kubernetes community, wearing multiple hats to contribute to the project’s stability and sustainability. As a Kubernetes Release Manager, I have been involved in releases since Kubernetes 1.17, and I led the Kubernetes 1.22 Release Team. I’ve been fortunate to receive recognition for my contributions, with my work even being featured in national newspapers in India.

In my free time, you can find me actively engaged in various open-source communities, particularly Kubernetes and Python India. I dedicate my off-work hours to pursuits like developing software tooling for personal use, contributing to new open source projects, exploring mechanical keyboards, and indulging in the art of brewing coffee. Lately, I’ve developed an interest in Chess and I’m learning the game from scratch. To further my engagement with the Chess community, I curate a Twitter list of Chess related accounts. Additionally, I enjoy speaking at conferences on topics related to technology and open source.

Prior to my current role, I gained valuable experience working with early-stage startups such as Clarisights and Algoshelf/Rorodata. During my tenure there, I focused on crafting software solutions for data pipelines, database abstractions, and infrastructure management.

I hold a major in Materials Science, along with a minor in Computer Science, from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. Throughout my time there, I not only delved into materials science orcomputer science but also explored electronics, robotics, and even attempted to uncover the secrets of the Philosopher’s Stone.

Find me on , and .
